April 2010 ENEWS

Neighborhood News

Volunteer Positions - -By June 2010, there will be three positions open on the Harbour Town Board of Directors, and three positions on the Architectural Review Committee.   These positions are voted on by the residents of Harbour Town at the annual board meeting in June.  If you are interested in running for a position on the Board or ARC, you may submit your name and a short bio (stating a little bit about yourself) to the Harbour Town Office.  Please contact Steve Bullard in the office (936-856-4378 if you are interested or want more information on the duties and the time/energy commitment involved in any of these positions.

Spring Garage Sale - If a HT garage sale is going to happen this year, a volunteer needs to come forward to organize and make it happen.  If you are interested in coordinating this event, please contact Steve at the Harbour Town Office, 936-856-4378. Spring is a great time to go through all your closets, garages, storage units, etc. and “thin out your loot”!

Architectural Review Committee

As was stated in “Neighborhood News”, there will be three positions coming open for the Architectural Review Committee in June of 2010.  These positions help play a very important

part in  the preservation of our home values and keep the appearance of Harbour Town attractive to prospective new home buyers, as well as those residents who are trying to sell their homes. Everyone who owns a home in Harbour Town should, at some point, consider volunteering a portion of  their time to serve on this committee because the ARC Guidelines affect all of us, whether we are buying, selling or living in this beautiful community.  We’d all love to keep it beautiful, and enforcing these Guidelines make this a possibility. Call the office if you are interested or would like to learn more about the duties of the ARC.

Spring is “bustin’ out all over”, and this is the time that most of us begin to spruce up our homes with new coats of paint, repair or replace worn shingles, fences, new plants in our flower beds, etc.  Kindly remember that any projects you plan for the exterior of your home must be approved by the ARC prior to doing any of the work.  Applications for proposed work may be found online at harbourtown.org, or from the office.

SMOOTH SAILING-Commodore Kent Ferguson

The first party of 2010, the Saint Patty’s Day Party and Game night, has always been popular.  The 43 members in attendance enjoyed great food, green margaritas, beer, wine, soft drinks and games.  Thanks to Marlene Hodgson and all her helpers for doing a great job decorating and setting the bar high for the rest of the parties this year.

Our next activity will be the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, April 4 at 2:00 pm.  This is being coordinated by Linda Carter, 936-890-6809.  It will be held on the Common Grounds around the swimming pool and is open to children to the age of 10.  There are three age groups 0-2 years, 3-5 years and 6-10.  Older children are welcome to help the Easter Bunny hide the eggs.  As usual there are prizes and refreshments. This is open to all Harbour Town residents and their guests.  Membership in the Yacht Club is not required.

Save the Date:  Don’t forget to reserve May 1 for the annual Derby Day Party!  Ladies, start decorating your hats!  There’s always lots of fun watching the horses run and placing friendly bets on your favorite horses.  More to come in the next newsletter.

As always, we want all property owners and residents to join and participate.  Contact a coordinator and offer to help. This is YOUR Yacht Club where neighbors become friends. You don’t even have to own a boat!   If you have not joined yet, contact Diane Streetman,

Membership Director, at 936-890-5620.
